Christ Child Society of Omaha hosted our first Meet & Greet event at the Eileen Ryan Christ Child Center on June 1, 2024 — and what a meaningful morning it was! Scholarship recipients, along with their families and Christ Child Board members, came together to learn more about the heart behind our mission, celebrate academic successes, and connect over a shared commitment to growth and community.
Guests enjoyed breakfast and good conversation, while the little ones got creative at our craft table and each took home a book from our literacy program. Throughout the event, scholars courageously shared their personal stories, giving us a glimpse into their journeys. In addition, Board members spoke about Christ Child’s core programs, including our layette donations, car seat distribution, literacy outreach, and of course, the scholarship program that brought everyone together that day.
And in a touching coincidence, one of the attending scholar’s mothers was named Mary Virginia — a beautiful nod to Mary Virginia Merrick, our organization’s founder.
Fast forward to October 7, 2024, when we hosted another wonderful Meet & Greet — this time bringing
together Christ Child Board members with Nebraska Methodist College of Nursing scholarship recipients
and faculty members. Just like the first event, the gathering was filled with heartfelt moments as scholars shared their stories and expressed deep gratitude for the support they’ve received. These events continue to create meaningful connections, allowing our community to better understand both the impact of Christ Child’s mission and the lives we’re honored to support.
In 2024 alone, Christ Child Society of Omaha awarded over 60 scholarships to mothers in need. Every year, this program grows — reaching more women, supporting more families, and transforming futures.
