Christ Child Society of Omaha hosted our first Meet & Greet event on June 1, 2024 — Scholarship recipients, along with their families and Christ Child Board members, came together to learn more about the heart behind our mission, celebrate academic successes, and connect over a shared commitment to growth and community.
Dedicated members of the Christ Child Omaha auxiliary, Ses Enfants, along with skilled seamstresses from Fordyce, NE, the Omaha Quilters Guild, and many devoted volunteers, lovingly craft 2,200 hand-sewn blankets each year for the layettes.
On Valentine’s Day 2025, 35 Skutt students gathered to support Christ Child Society of Omaha. The group came together to learn about Christ Child’s mission and pack 500 sturdy backpacks with essential baby items, including 14,000 diapers collected through a school-wide drive.
We are happy to announce Joe Donovan and Steve Isom as our newest Board members. They both bring to us their unique experiences to serve and provide value enhance Christ Child Society of Omaha.

Announcing Christ Child Omaha's New Board President
The 2024 Christ Child Society’s annual Soirée on October 3rd was marked by a spirit of friendship and a collective desire to support vulnerable families in our community.

Eighty-eight delegates representing chapters from all over the United States gathered in Omaha’s Old Market Embassy Suites for Christ Child Society’s 47th National Convention, September 18-21.
In Spring 2024, the Christ Child Omaha Literacy Committee redefined our pilot literacy program for families in our community. Committee members Ann Marie Abboud, Beth Wilson, Denise Snodgrass, and Jillian Krumbach developed a plan to partner with existing literacy organizations and roll out literacy programming through our current network of agency relationships.

Although the founder of The Christ Child Society, Mary Virginia Merrick, never married or had children of her own she set a worthy example of being alongside mothers to nurture their families.
We are proud to introduce our three newest board members and share a little bit about them with you.
Currently, we serve approximately 60 expecting or new mothers from a diverse range of backgrounds through our Child & Maternal Health program called Promotion of Mother’s Care (PROMOCARE).
When Nebraska Early Development Network reached out regarding a family in need, Christ Child Omaha was able to answer the call!
On a crisp fall afternoon, Christ Child Society of Omaha, in conjunction with Catholic Charities, provided 30 new car seats to mothers in need.
The 2023 Christ Child Society’s annual Soirée was marked by tremendous camaraderie and generosity in support of women and families. Over 180 guests enjoyed a social hour and then moved into the beautifully decorated ballroom of Happy Hollow Club to enjoy a delicious dinner and inspirational program.

2022 Annual Report - Christ Child Society of Omaha
Christ Child Omaha is proud to partner with area schools to bring Christ’s love to communities through the layette program. Mary Our Queen Catholic School, Skutt Catholic High School and St. Margaret Mary's assembled and delivered backpack-style layettes with newborn necessities, spreading our mission to families in Omaha, Lincoln, Fremont and Council Bluffs.
Elliot Peck received one of our scholarships during a stressful time in her life. She was able to pay for books, supplies, and tuition — so she could stay on track with her education during her senior year at Nebraska Methodist College. She is one of 70 people who have benefited from Christ Child Society Scholarships since 2019. Currently, 34 are on scholarship, the vast majority single mothers. Scholarships are $5,000 a year (four-year degrees) and $2,500 (two-year degrees).
Ses Amies has 23 members and recruitment is open for this vibrant new auxiliary. The group is family friendly and young children are welcome, while you volunteer. It's a great way to have fun making connections and making an impactful difference.
To bolster reading skills, Christ Child Omaha kicked off a pilot literacy program with brightly colored vending machine filled with books at Westgate Elementary School. Students can earn shiny gold tokens to “purchase” a book.
Fun, fellowship, and raising funds! Over 150 guests filled the bays at TopGolf from 6-9:00 pm on April 12th for Christ Child Society of Omaha’s first TopGolf FUNdraising event.

On May 24, Christ Child Omaha turned a new page in our history book with the Grand Opening of the Eileen Ryan Christ Child Center in Rockbrook Village. This new Center enables us to more efficiently and cost-effectively serve families in our community through layettes, car seats, scholarships and other programs.
Over the past 115 years, Christ Child has evolved to meet the changing needs of families and neighborhoods in Omaha. It has served infants and children, immigrants, single mothers, and the elderly. It has taught children catechism, sewing, swimming and dancing; it has operated child care centers, after-school programs, summer camps and senior citizens’ programs out of facilities in north, south and east Omaha. Christ Child history files include lists from the 1930s of every single mom who received a layette.
Sierra was a resident at Mater Filius when Christ Child Society met her. Mater Filius recommended her for a Christ Child scholarship to help get her on her feet so she could support herself and her newborn son. Sierra was Christ Child Society of Omaha’s first ever scholarship recipient in 2015. She’s received the award every year since.
