Programs

Car Seats

Each year, car seats help save the lives of hundreds of children. CCSO partners with social service agencies in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa to provide car seat education and distribute car seats to new and expectant mothers.

What Kind of Car Seats Does CCSO Provide?

Our free Car Seat Program provides new, high-quality car seats to new and expectant mothers. We purchase grow-with-me convertible car seats, which adapt as children grow so parents can use them on the day they bring their newborn home and for years to come.

How Does CCSO Distribute Car Seats?

Christ Child Society of Omaha partners with social service agencies in the Omaha metro to hold safety education and car seat distribution events.

Typically, these agencies announce classes, and mothers must register to attend. At each event, a trained educator from Children’s Hospital in Omaha teaches parents how to safely install and use the car seat. At the completion of the training, a grow-with-me car seat is given to each parent. This style of car seat can be used from infancy until the child has grown large enough to no longer need a car seat or booster seat.

Why Does CCSO Provide Car Seats?

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13. Providing families with car seats to protect their children from crashes directly impacts the health and safety of infants and children.

Impact

Car seats are a necessity but purchasing one can be a significant financial burden. Providing car seats to families in need helps ensure babies can travel safely in vehicles from their very first ride home. In 2025, Christ Child Society of Omaha provided 220 high-quality convertible car seats to families in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metropolitan area.
