Literacy Program Overview

Our Literacy Program Nurtures Young Minds to Read, Learn & Grow

Christ Child includes three Unite for Literacy “birth to 3” books to each layette, along with a tip card discussing the importance of reading to children starting at birth. The printed books also have a QR code on the back, which leads families to our FREE online digital library and provides access to hundreds of books narrated in 50+ languages. 

We also have tree-shaped book stands, with free books in English and Spanish in multiple locations. We have stands at One World WIC Clinic, Refugee Women Rising, Catholic Charities Food Pantry, and Guiding Grace. The welcoming shelves house books for children and families to take, read, and keep. 

Access to books at home for preschoolers improves language skills and school readiness, leading to long-term academic success.

How You Can Get Involved

  • Donate to fund scholarships, layettes, car seats and literacy program. All donations serve families right in your community.

  • Volunteer to pack and deliver diaper bags to partner agencies or sew handmade blankets.

  • Become a Partner Agency to refer families in need to our services.

  • Join an Auxiliary Group to come together for fellowship and friendship, united in service to those in need.
