Threads of Kindness, Made with Love

Bernina Omaha graciously opened its doors to Christ Child Omaha to host these sewing events as we work toward meeting the goal of creating over 2,200 blankets in 2026.

The hum of sewing machines filled the room at Bernina Omaha as volunteers generously gave their time to sew baby blankets which will be placed into Christ Child Omaha layettes. For many participants, it was their very first time sewing or using a sewing machine. Bernina Omaha graciously opened its doors to Christ Child Omaha to host these sewing events as we work toward meeting the goal of creating over 2,200 blankets in 2026.

So far, Christ Child Omaha and Bernina Omaha have held two sewing events, with more planned in the months ahead. At the first event, eager Christ Child Auxiliary members and their daughters braved the snow to learn how to sew. The second gathering welcomed students from Duchesne Academy, who were excited to volunteer their time and talents to make blankets for the layettes.

We are grateful to all the volunteers who participated in these sewing days.
A special thank you to Bernina Omaha for welcoming Christ Child into their space, and to Emily Codr and Barb Greene for helping bring this initiative to life. In total, 50 blankets were lovingly stitched and will soon wrap babies in warmth and comfort.
