Soirée 2025 “Sweet Mama Vibes” = Generosity!

Christ Child Society’s 17th Annual Soirée

On October 2nd, an enthusiastic crowd gathered at Happy Hollow for the Christ Child Society’s 17th Annual Soirée. The venue was adorned with beautifully decorated autumn tables, setting a warm and festive atmosphere for the event.

Guests enjoyed delicious food while listening to Rachael Jensen from UNO, Executive Director of Durango’s Advancement and Support Hub. She spoke about scholarships and highlighted the Christ Child’s strategic approach, providing lasting impact on families in the community.

Honorary Chairs Lynette and Marv Dvorak were honored for over 50 years of continued dedication to the Christ Child mission. Lynette expressed her gratitude to everyone in attendance and shared heartfelt reflections about her meaningful personal involvement with Christ Child through the years and the importance of their mission.

Soirée Chairs, Melanie and Peter Ziegler, were recognized for their dedicated commitment to the mission of Christ Child.  “Melanie has been a decades-long member, and we are grateful for her generosity of time and treasure,” said Tim Reed, the program host. Moments later, Tim, together with Walter Duda, brought a lighthearted moment to the event by channeling Neil Diamond, performing “Sweet Mama Vibes” to the tune of “Sweet Caroline.” Their performance had guests raising their paddles and donating generously— helping to provide layettes, car seats, books and scholarships for mothers and children in the Omaha area.

The event raised over $300,000 including support from pre-event sponsorships. Once again, Soirée reflected the enduring spirit of founder Mary Virginia Merrick and her belief that “nothing is ever too much to do for a child.”
